Med surg nursing: A day in the life of med surg nursing

Med surg nursing: A day in the life of med surg nursing: "Hello, Are there a lot of med surg nurses out there? Med surg is its own specialty in my own opinion and it takes a special nurse to stick w..."

I have noticed that it doesn't matter what type of health care setting one is involved in that psychiatric patients will always be encountered. Actually I believe more time should be spent on the psychiatric aspect of nursing, but this is just my personal opinion. I work in a doctors office and believe you me I have seen it all.

When good nurses do wrong things

As a healthcare professional it is very necessary to have a certain standard when dealing with other professionals. The reason I would like to speak more on this is due to an incident that occurred yesterday. I took some paper work to a physicians nurse to have the doctor sign. She stated that they were not responsible for some of the orders listed on the paper. I explained to her that I understood that but there were some orders there that we were responsible for. The nurse then proceeds to take the papers and toss the across the nursing station and say that this is not important and walked away. Now I want you to know that the doctor, patient and several other nurses were standing there. Not only was this type of behavior uncalled for but it was unprofessional and rude. I feel that it could have been handled differently. What are your thoughts?
